European Adventures and Tinderbox Return

Amy is back, relaxed and cultured up! More on the amazing creative things happening around the world soon but for now- Ballarat based music and arts show The Tinderbox returns tomorrow night at 6pm, featuring music new and old, folk to funk, plus arts news and creative guests so tune on in. & some street art from travels:

Overseas Update

The crew are working away on various exciting projects, including overseas travels- Abbie is currently in Canada teaching at an arts camp and Amy is off to the Crossroads Cultural Studies Conference in Paris to present her theatre research. Weaving Stories and Artforms

Hope everyone enjoyed getting along to Ballarat Heritage Weekend last Saturday and Sunday. Weave Length ran the specially crafted theatrical audio tours of the Railway Station again and enjoyed teaming up with the Ballarat International Foto Biennale in the Railway Coach House.

Onwards to new projects now! And another Art Sparks extravaganza coming up on May 31st presented by the Tinderbox Radio team with Ballarat Arts Alive and the City of Ballarat- check it out

Theatrical Audio Tours at beautiful Ballarat Railway

This year as part of Ballarat Heritage Weekend (great theme of Childhood Memories 1930's to 1960's that Amy has been helping out with!) you can also enjoy these theatrical audio tours created by Weave Length Productions.

Up to 3 adventurers can go at one time, with tours leaving the station Coach House (see image above) every ten minutes.

Head over to trybooking and book a time that suits you over Sat 12th and Sunday 13th between 11 and 5. Alternatively you can try your luck on the weekend and book either at the Mining Exchange or come straight to the Coach House at 202 Lydiard St, just near the railway crossing and car park.

From there you will collect an ipod (in exchange for a valid license or credit card) and be instructed on your journey from helpful Weave Lengthers. The tour will lead you on an individual journey as you wander through the station precinct led by an audio soundscape of instructions, story, song and site history. Local musicians Mick Trembath and Paige Duggan feature in the soundtrack and you will encounter other local visual artists and performers along the way.

Also in Weave Length land- our Theatrical Audio Tours of the train station will be running again this May 12th and 13th. It's still free but this time round we'll be asking people to book in a time prior (or during the weekend if any spots left!) via trybooking. Art Sparks at the Buninyong Brewery

Weave Length artists Abbie Matthews and Amy Tsilemanis join a great line up of artists next week for the third Art Sparks event, presented by Ballarat Arts Alive, Tinderbox Radio and the City of Ballarat, helping to connect and showcase local artists, forms and venues.

We are working on a Live Art experience of 'slow dating' including installation and visual work to accompany the other featured work across forms of photography, choral music, painting and spoken word.

Where: The Buninyong Brewery

When: Thursday March 22nd 6.30-9.30 (plus a late night ramble along the Historic Trail for those inclined)

Auditory Adventures and other delights at Heritage Weekend 2012

Hey there,

As usual the crew are busy busy but happy to announce that the Ballarat Railway Theatrical Audio Tours will be providing unique auditory adventures again at this year's Ballarat Heritage Weekend!

There will also be lots of other fun and games across the weekend, May 12th and 13th, with the theme of Childhood Memories and Amy is working on the experiential side of things for you all so it should be really special! More details soon.

Art Sparks in Ballarat!

Last Tuesday the Tinderbox Radio gals curated and helped to host an event for the Ballarat arts community at Linda Franklin's South Street Art Studio. The work of five diverse artists were featured and guests were treated to showings, discussion and feasting! (check again soon for an edited film featuring images from the night and audio from the artist panel discussion). This is the second Art Sparks event in a pilot series of creative gatherings for artists in Ballarat and surrounds in order to showcase creative work across various forms and in various local venues. They are also an opportunity for local artists to meet each other, and discuss, debate and spark ideas and collaborations. Stay tuned for more! : )
